Hello all:
welcome to our new website. This website is designed to be an info site about the ministries at Wyoming Baptist Church which I oversee. As most of you know, my name is Steve Rhodes. I am the assistant pastor at Wyoming Baptist Church. Contact info is above but also email me at steve.rhodes1@gmail.com.
I oversee the youth ministry and children’s ministry. I work with the Church growth and outreach board. I also oversee the multimedia ministry. I am also involved in various other ministries.
I have been at this church for almost 3 1/2 years. Before this church I was with a church plant. I was the youth coordinator there. I graduated from Cedarville University with a pastoral studies degree (bachelor of arts). I am almost finished with my Masters in Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary.
I am married to Meagan, a wonderful woman and we have no kids but a dog who thinks she owns the house.
please look around the site and let me know if there is anything else you interested in.
First, below is some information about our fall Kirkwood Retreat. The info below was written by Carrie our speaker.
Kirkwood Jr. High Retreat November 6-8, 2009
“FACE OFF”
Gee who knew things were going to be soooooo easy in this economic downturn, right?
Who hasn’t been affected?
Were you and your family prepared for the transformation?
For our students, the “world” has changed dramatically—school, opportunities, energy, media, stewardship, technology, relationships… yet SOCIAL NETWORKING has seen an incredible 37% rise! Love it or leave it, the technology has created a huge fan base and provided a means to reconnect with those long lost contacts, or keep up with the “fast pace” of life. Maybe you haven’t tweeted, or don’t text regularly, or have a facebook account, yet It’s predicted that 90% of the Next Generation will be connected in some form by 2012. Are they really linked? And to who? Do these online bonds allow masks, and promote masquerades? Worse, do they form barriers or hurt feelings (even between family and friends)? Let’s take a walk through I Corinthians 4-7, looking at how we can remain REAL and authentic (with and despite the technology).
A ton of interactive activities, challenges, games, music, …. Providing a Relevant Background…. Even some safety guidelines, expectations, What’s Next for the technology? For you?
Answering–Can Paul and the bible (a 2000 year old book) really have something to say about all this?
What kind of network do you belong to?
If you could design a network, what would it look like?
Do my connections really help with my life’s struggles?
Can we keep that phony face off? How? Should we?
